Before You Book
Please read through this so you know exactly what to expect.
A Few Things to Know
Particles of dust, faint scratches, chemical quirks, and other small “happy defects” are part of the medium. We embrace these as features, and they are not grounds for a free reshoot.
Digital scans are included as a complimentary service. I’ll send them along after your session. I can’t promise a specific turnaround time, but you will get them.
Picking up your portraits. After your shoot, each plate must be dried, scanned and varnished before it’s ready to take home — about an hour. You’re welcome to wait, return later that day, or schedule a pickup on a following day.
Flash & strobe lights. We use high-powered strobe lights during sessions. If you have a photosensitive condition or any light-sensitivity concerns, please let us know before booking.
Reshoot Policy
Free reshoot. Photographer error, equipment failure, or a clear technical defect that obscures the subject.
Courtesy reshoot ($25). A minor tweak to expression, pose, or lighting. One per original plate, same-session only, time permitting. You keep both plates.
Additional plate. A significantly different pose, composition, or grouping is a new plate at add-on rates ($100 for 5×7, $150 for 8×10).
Not defects. Dust, fingerprints, scratches, chemical marks, texture variations, and edge effects are inherent to tintype and are not grounds for a reshoot.
Gray-area cases are at the photographer’s discretion. We’ll always do our best to be fair.
Children & Pets
Children. For children 12 and under, a parent or guardian must be present for the entire session. Parents are expected to keep children safe and ready to shoot. Please note that perfect focus and stillness cannot be guaranteed with young children.
Pets. Pets are welcome on a case-by-case basis. Please notify us when requesting a booking so we can confirm your animal is a good fit for the session. Pet owners are fully responsible for their animal’s behavior. As with young children, perfect focus and composition cannot be guaranteed.
Scheduling & Cancellations
Punctuality. Please arrive on time. If you’re more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, I may need to cancel the appointment.
Cancellations & rescheduling. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. This is a courtesy request.
Copyright & Photo Use
Ownership. All photographs taken during your session remain the intellectual property of the photographer. Your digital scans are provided for personal, non-commercial use. If you’d like to use an image for commercial purposes, reach out and we’ll work something out.
Our use of your photos. We may occasionally share session photos for marketing purposes (social media, website, etc.). If you’d prefer we keep your photos private, let us know and we’ll respect that.
Liability & Studio Safety
We take the safety of our studio seriously and do our best to maintain a safe environment for every session. That said, by booking a session with Pierre’s Theatre, you acknowledge that a photography session involves inherent risks and agree to hold harmless Pierre’s Theatre, its owners, and employees from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from bodily injury or property damage. If you, your child, or pet damages the property or any equipment, you agree to reimburse Pierre’s Theatre for any resulting repair or replacement costs.
